Volunteer team help Manukau pastor set-up alcohol and drug drop-in centre

Habitat for Humanity Northern Region along with a small army of volunteers helped to paint the interior of a new Alcohol and Drug Drop-in Centre in Otara.

This is being set up by Joshua, a local pastor who knows first-hand the devastating effects alcohol and drugs have in our communities. Joshua is the Pastor of the Upper Room tabernacle based in Southmall, Manurewa and is passionate about helping alcoholics and addicts with setting up a centre where effected people can go for free counselling, meetings and refreshments with non-judgemental, compassionate help.

We wish to thank all of our amazing volunteers who gave their time to help David in cleaning up his garden in Manurewa. Their hard work over two very hot days will ensure he can now maintain the exterior of his home with minimal effort. He is very grateful for everyone’s time and support.

A special thank you to Central Landscape & Garden Supplies , Pink Bins Recycling Company Ltd and the team at Designer Gardens who helped Habitat with this project.

We couldn’t have done this without your support and expertise.

Auckland volunteer group restore home for local Mangere family

We had a great couple of busy volunteer group days on Thursday and Friday painting the Talo family home in Mangere.

We would like to give a huge thank you to our individual volunteers and also Jacobsen Flooring for being a huge part of the volunteer group and taking the time out of their week to help make this project possible. The Talo family are very grateful for the hard work our volunteers have done.

Also thank you to Auckland Glass who have kindly replaced the broken windows for this home at no charge, this means the home is now weather proof.

The family are very grateful for the support.

A big thank you to the Kainga Ora, Homes and Communities team who helped Habitat with repainting Wilson & Dawns home in Mangere.

The Kainga Ora team along with our own Build team were able to repaint the entire interior of the home in one day, a massive achievement and one that will make a big difference in the families lives.

Without their time, kindness and generosity we would not have been able to achieve so much in such a short space of time.

Habitat undertook essential repairs to the home including major roof repairs, which had been leaking for some time causing internal damage.

Habitat also installed a whole new bathroom, ranch sliders, serviced all windows, replaced decking timber and fixed the damaged eaves and spouting.
