The Maunu Road Public Housing development has been officially named Warren Place in honour of Warren Jack’s tireless dedication to providing shelter and support for families in housing need.
Warren Jack, former Director of Habitat for Humanity Northern, has left an indelible mark on the community during his tenure from 2000 to 2015. He continues to support Habitat by providing advice and guidance across the organisation to this day.
Warren was recognised as a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the King’s Birthday and Coronation Honours List 2023, for his dedicated and passionate service to his community spanning over 40 years.
Carina Dickson, Habitat Northern Housing Manager, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to commemorate Warren’s invaluable contributions. “We are thrilled to pay tribute to such an extraordinary figure within the Habitat family. Warren’s tireless efforts have touched countless lives, not only in Whangārei and Aotearoa but across the globe.”
Reflecting on the significance of this recognition, Warren Jack shared, “From the inception of Habitat for Humanity Northland, I have been deeply invested in its mission. Over the years, I’ve witnessed remarkable progress, particularly in Tai Tokerau. The Maunu Road development represents a culmination of these efforts—a testament to the transformative power of collective action.”
Warren further remarked, “It is truly humbling to have a road associated with this monumental development named in acknowledgment of my contributions. However, this honour extends beyond me; it symbolizes the collective endeavours of countless individuals who have worked tirelessly to improve housing conditions for deserving families.”
