Global Village

Habitat’s Global Village programme makes it possible for Kiwis to volunteer in one of our partner countries, working side by side with other volunteers and local families and communities. Projects vary, but always with the goal of improving homes and habitability. It’s a vibrant experience that immerses you in a different culture and country, making a positive long-term impact. You don’t need specific building experience, just a willingness to lend a hand.

Volunteer on a Global Village week for a truly impactful experience

Habitat volunteers work shoulder-to-shoulder with families and fellow group members, sharing a vibrant experience immersed in a different culture and country that creates real long-term impact.

Volunteers don’t need specific building experience, just a willingness to lend a hand. Your team leader will ensure your contributions are still sturdy and make a valuable contribution to the local community.

Our programme

By traveling to a partner country and donating your time and effort, you have an opportunity to directly address and improve immediate housing needs. The impact of your effort extends far beyond the week-long project, as the outcome will continue benefiting the local community and families for years to come with physical shelter and protection and a stable sense of home that we all need to thrive.
