Four new Progressive Home Ownership homes in Pukekohe

Sep 22, 2021

As part of our housing provision, we provide a Progressive Home Ownership (PHO) programme supporting working families into homeownership. We are excited to announce the release of four PHO homes in Pukekohe. This opportunity is in conjunction with Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki.

“The Ngāi Tai partnership opportunity provides a further example of Habitat partnering with Māori and specifically in Auckland. This type of partnership is hugely important as we seek to address housing access and affordability in one of the more challenging housing markets in Aotearoa New Zealand,” said Conrad LaPointe.

The Progressive Home Ownership programme is based on a Rent to Own programme, where families are selected through an application process. Under the terms of the programme families, pay an affordable rent, paying down the purchase price of the home over time until they can afford a commercial loan from the bank and purchase the home from Habitat. The price of the home is set an affordable level and all equity gained from time of occupancy is transferred to the homeowner, with no initial deposit required. Over the past 25 years, Habitat has helped over 550 families into home ownership through this model.

Habitat Northern Region has a number of new homes coming onto the market in the near future. Specifically, this opportunity is for four homes (2 x 2 bedroom and 2 x 3 bedroom) homes at Belmont Village, Pukekohe.
