Ways to volunteer with Habitat
Volunteers are the heart of Habitat for Humanity New Zealand. Thousands of people volunteer in New Zealand or overseas with us each year, working towards a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
You can get involved on a regular basis or be involved in a one off project. Our opportunities to volunteer come and go, but some work is ongoing. Volunteer work includes building homes both locally and overseas, repairing homes and working in our ReStores.
Everyone is welcome
Habitat brings together people of all walks of life. You will get to work alongside school students, business teams, volunteers from all ages and cultures. Volunteering is a great opportunity to connect with people you would not usually connect with.
You provide the hands, we provide the training. As a volunteer on a building site, you may have the opportunity to work in a variety of phases of construction – installing insulation, putting up walls, painting, landscaping or adding the finishing touches. Come with or without skills – all you need is enthusiasm and the willingness to help. This also applies to working in the ReStore. Learn on the job!
Become a Volunteer
Build or repair a home
Pick up a hammer and get building. Meet new people, learn new skills, give back to the community and… have a great time!
Help Build Overseas
Volunteering on an overseas build is a unique way to travel while helping families in need.
Help at the ReStore
Habitat’s second hand stores raise funds for our work and we can always use extra help. There are plenty of opportunities.
