“My family is safe, secure and happy thanks to Habitat.”

Aaron began his Progressive Home Ownership journey with Habitat as a solo parent with a disability and three children. He now owns his own home.

“It’s been an awesome journey. I have loved it. I have raised my children in this home. They were seven, five and three years old when we moved in. They are now in their late twenties and thirties. I am a solo dad, so I did it all myself,” he said.

Prior to partnering with Habitat, they were staying with his parents, eight of them living in a small two-bedroom home. Aaron had health issues, which meant he could no longer walk, but when his home was being built, he was still onsite every day with his family doing whatever he could to help. “I was good with small motors and engines, and I repaired Habitat’s weed eaters, lawnmowers and items from the ReStore, I loved it,” he said.

Since moving into his home, Aaron has been able to focus on providing stability for his family and spending quality time together.

He said, “My children have grown up knowing that it’s not easy, but if you budget, spend wisely, things should go well for you. My family is safe, secure and happy and now my granddaughters now come to visit my home.”
