Here in Aotearoa we are facing a growing housing crisis. Too many families are living in substandard conditions, where overcrowding, dampness and lack of insulation affects all aspects of a family’s health and wellbeing. Essential home maintenance is often an unaffordable expense for families. As rental prices continue to rise, and home ownership remains a pipe dream for most, too many families remain stuck in a cycle of poverty.

Habitat run a wide range of programmes to provide assistance to families in need of decent and affordable housing. From our home repair programme that ensures low income families can access essential repairs to their home, to supporting families on a pathway to home ownership through our Progressive Home Ownership programme, we work with families to foster resilience, self-reliance, and stability for the long term.
